Installation of sodar at Värmlandsnäs
Below, you can see a picture of a sodar being installed at Värmlandsnäs. A sodar is a mobile wind measurer. The measurer sends out sonar pulses and measures the echo that is reflected back.
The sodar that Gothia Vind uses is the AQ500 model, which is transportable in the sense that it is a trailer that can be moved using a car.

The sodar has a bank of batteries powering the instrument. These batteries are charged by means of a diesel-driven generating set that is in operation about 2 hours a day.
The sound from the sodar is a tone at a frequency of 3500 Hz, which roughly corresponds to A7.
The sodars that Gothia Vind uses were purchased from AQ System.
